Mol-Safe Molecular Sieve

Mol-SAFE  (Molecular Sieve)

Moisture is a factor that can cause serious problems in many industries and uses. It can cause electronics to fail, historical artefacts to be destroyed, food to spoil and metal parts susceptible to corrosion to be damaged. However, molecular sieves, which have been developed to deal with these problems, offer an excellent solution to eliminate these harmful effects of moisture.

Molecular sieves are manufactured from high quality synthetic zeolites. These zeolites are known for their ability to adsorb moisture effectively. This special capacity makes it possible to use molecular sieves in many different applications. The packaging material and its synthetic zeolites are carefully selected in accordance with industry standards such as DIN 55473 and MIL-D-3464E. This ensures that the moisture absorption capacity of the molecular sieves is maintained at a high level.

WHY USE THEM?

Molecular sieves are particularly effective in the following areas:

  • Protection of Electronic Components: Electronic devices are extremely sensitive to the damaging effects of moisture. High humidity levels can lead to corrosion of circuit boards, deterioration of connections and failure of devices. Molecular sieves play a critical role in protecting electronic components from moisture.
  • Protection of Historical Artefacts: Historical artefacts are susceptible to various environmental factors over many years, and moisture is one of these factors. Especially artefacts exhibited in museums can be protected from the negative effects of moisture with the help of molecular sieves.
  • Food Storage: In the food industry, moisture is known to be a factor that can deteriorate the quality of food. Molecular sieves are used to extend the shelf life of moisture sensitive foods.
  • Protection of Corrosion Sensitive Metal Parts: Metal parts are at risk of corrosion when exposed to high moisture levels. Molecular sieves are of great importance in protecting such parts.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Adsorption: The basic function of molecular sieves is a process called adsorbing or retaining moisture molecules on their surface. This process is based on the special design of the pores in the crystal structure of synthetic zeolites. Synthetic zeolites have large amounts of pores and these pores absorb moisture molecules into them.
  • Pore Structure: The pores of synthetic zeolites have a precise structure at the molecular level. These pores allow molecules of certain sizes and shapes to enter while keeping others out. Thanks to this feature, only moisture molecules are adsorbed, while other gases and particles are left out.
  • Moisture uptake: The zeolite pores inside the molecular sieve capture and adsorb moisture molecules from the surrounding environment. This reduces the moisture level inside the molecular sieve. The moisture capacity within the molecular sieve can vary depending on the type and amount of synthetic zeolite used.
  • Moisture Isolation: Molecular sieves are used to maintain or reduce the humidity level of the environment in which they are used to a desired level. For example, during the storage or transport of electronic devices, molecular sieves allow moisture to be absorbed in the packaging they contain. In this way, electronic devices are protected from damage caused by moisture.
